Team Chat is a feature which your challenge organiser can decide to enable. If you don't see the "Team Chat" button on the website or app sidebar, team chat is not enabled for your challenge.
The Team Chat feature of Big Team Challenge allows you to quickly and easily talk to your team mates both on the challenge website and the app.
How to Open Chat
On the challenge website, tap Team Chat in the left-hand sidebar. On the app, open the sidebar and tap Team Chat.
Chat Rules
Before accessing the chat, you will be asked to agree to the chat rules. These form part of the Terms and Conditions you agreed to while registering for the challenge. It's important to acknowledge that chat is meant to be a fun and friendly aspect of the challenge designed to boost engagement and allow participants to share supportive messages with each other.
Your challenge organiser can monitor chat messages and participants can report messages, so please use chat in a responsible and appropriate manner.
Sending Chat Messages
After agreeing to the rules, you'll have access to the team chat. Team chat can be accessed by all of your team members and allow you to send messages to each other.
To send a message, just type your message into the chat box at the bottom of the chat window then press the Send button/icon.
Sending Images
The ability to send messages in chat is controlled by your challenge organiser. If you don't see the Gallery icon as shown below, your organiser has disabled images in chat.
You can also send images in chat. To do so, click the Gallery icon, select your images, and then choose to upload it to the chat.
Push Notifications
If you're using our app, you will receive a push notification every time one of your team members sends a new chat message. If you wish to disable this, open Team Chat in the app, click on Options in the top bar and turn off Push Notifications.
Leaving Chat
If you wish to leave the team chat for whatever reason, you can do so via the challenge website or the app.
On the challenge website, open Team Chat, click the button with the three dots in the top bar, then select Leave Team Chat.
On the challenge app, open the sidebar then select Team Chat. Tap on the Options button in the top bar and then Leave Team Chat.
You can re-join the chat at any time if you wish to do so.
Deleting a Message
You can delete a message that you have sent at any time. Deleting a message deletes it for everyone in the chat. You cannot restore a message after it has been deleted.
On the challenge website, open Team Chat, find the message which you wish to delete, then click the button with the three dots beside it. You can then select Delete. You will be asked to confirm this action and then the message will be deleted.
On the challenge app, open the sidebar then select Team Chat. Find the message you wish to delete, then press and hold on that message. You will be given the option to Delete Message and then will be asked to confirm before your message is deleted.
Reporting a Message
If you believe a message contains inappropriate content, you can report this to your challenge organiser. Please note that reporting a message will immediately delete the message for all chat users and no-one will be able to see it in the chat. Your challenge organiser will then be notified about this and will be given the chance to review the message. They may choose to take further action on their side or they can restore the message.
On the challenge website, open Team Chat, find the message which you wish to report, then click the button with the three dots beside it. You can then select Report. You will be asked to confirm this action and choose a reporting reason before confirming.
On the challenge app, open the sidebar then select Team Chat. Find the message you wish to delete, then press and hold on that message. You will be given the option to Report Message and will then be asked to confirm this action and choose a reporting reason before confirming.
Your Privacy and Security
We take your privacy and data security very seriously and want to be as transparent as possible with you about how we handle your data:
Chat messages are auto-deleted after 30 days for privacy and security reasons.
Chat closes 7 days after a challenge ends. At this point, participants will not be able to access the chat.
If you feel that a message or image is inappropriate, you can report it to your challenge organiser.
Your challenge organiser is responsible for monitoring chat. The Big Team Challenge support team does have access to messages and may delete messages in exceptional circumstances if required.
