This article is for an older version of the Big Team Challenge Android app that integrates with Google Fit.
Our new Android app has migrated to Health Connect. If you have the new app (version >= 2.0), you can view instructions on how to setup Health Connect here
There are a few things to check if your Google Fit steps aren't syncing to Big Team Challenge. We'll guide you through these in this help article.
Check the Google Fit app
Open the Google Fit app on your Android device and check that it's showing your latest step count. The app's Home tab should show your steps for today (highlighted in red in the screenshot below). Please ensure that's what you'd expect to see. If not, there may be an issue with Google Fit. You can find help with that here: https://support.google.com/fit/?hl=en-GB#topic=6075053
Check your Google Fit profile account details
If your steps are showing in Google Fit, it's time to check which Google Account you're using for Google Fit. In the Google Fit app, tap the Profile tab at the bottom of the screen, then tap on the profile icon (the round circle) at the top right of the screen.
The popup should list the Google Account you're using in Google Fit. It should show your name and, importantly, the email address of the Google Account you're using. Please take a note of this.
Reconnect to Big Team Challenge
Go back to the Big Team Challenge app, open the Sync Devices screen and disconnect from Google Fit (if you're currently connected). Next, try to connect to Google Fit again. During this process, you'll be asked to confirm which Google Account you'd like to use (as per the screenshot below). Please ensure to select the same Google Account as the one connected to Google Fit (that you noted down in the previous step).
Wait for your steps to sync
You should now be successfully set up to sync your steps from Google Fit to Big Team Challenge. Please note that there may be a delay before your steps start syncing, so don't worry if any steps taken immediately after this process don't sync to the challenge straight away.
Please also note that we only sync steps walked after connecting Google Fit, so any steps synced from before this time will need to be manually entered into the challenge.
Still not syncing?
