Sending out News Posts to all participants is a great way of keeping everyone motivated throughout the challenge. We recommend sending posts on a weekly basis (or even more frequently), perhaps with the latest stats or some top tips for staying active. You can read more here.

Displaying on challenge website and mobile app

Every post (whether you select Email or Mobile push options) will show on your challenge website and in our mobile app under the News Posts section.

Email and push notification recipient options

When creating a News Post in the admin area, you'll be able to choose whether to send the notification via Email or Mobile Push notification. You can select one, both or neither option.

If you select either of the options above, you'll be asked which group of users should receive a notification (email and/or push) about the News Post.

You can either send it to:

  • All registered users (this includes people who have not indicated their participation in the current challenge)

  • Just participants who have either indicated that they wish to take part or have already joined a team.

Note: If users have turned off or unsubscribed from email notifications or push notifications in their account or app settings, they will not receive that notification.

For your first challenge

For first-time challenge organisers, you may wish to send a notification to all registered users (even if they've not joined a team yet). This is a great way to let everyone who has registered know about the challenge before it starts.

Once your challenge has started, you may wish to send your weekly posts to only those who are actually in a team - you can select "Only users in a team or interested in the current challenge" to target them.

If you've run a challenge before

If you've run a challenge before and have pre-existing users, you may be targeting a new set of participants. Your previous set of participants will still be registered users and so you may not want them to receive your communications about the new challenge - in this case our built-in "interested" in the current challenge option below might suit. We recommend selecting "Only users in a team or interested in the current challenge".

Of course, if you are sending an initial post to announce the new challenge then you are welcome to select "All registered users" so that everyone receives an email.

"Interested" in the current challenge

When a user goes through the Profile Setup Wizard they are asked if they wish to take part in the current challenge. This is shown in the screenshot below:

Once the user indicates that they wish to participate in the challenge, they will show as a "Yes" in the "Interested in Challenge" column in the admin area's Participants list.
