Enabling comments on a News Post allows your participants to leave text and image comments and is a great way to build engagement and boost the social nature of your wellbeing programme.
You can choose to enable comments on each individual News Post, giving you granular control over how the platform works for you.
Should I enable comments?
While we think that most organisers will wish to enable comments to make the challenge as social as possible, there are some important things to consider before doing so:
Enabling comments will allow your participants to add text and image comments which are visible to all other participants.
We do not actively monitor comments and it would be your responsibility to take any action required if comments are flagged as inappropriate.
Our Terms and Conditions include an Acceptable Use Policy section which all participants have agreed to and any misuse of the system may result in us having to ban or block users.
We hope that everyone will follow the rules and use the comments feature in a friendly manner, but it's important to be aware of the extra content moderation responsibilities that you may have to deal with if you choose to enable comments on a News Post.
How to enable comments on a News Post
You can enable comments either when creating a News Post or at a later date.
When creating a News Post, select Allow Comments - Yes in the "Details" section then click Update post to save your changes.
β
If you wish to enable or disable comments at a later date, select your News Post in the admin area then switch Allow Comments to "No". Click Update post to save your changes. If comments have already been added, changing this setting to "No" will stop any new comments from being added but with NOT delete existing comments. You will need to delete these manually.
Can I view a News Post's comments?
You can view the News Post in the admin area and go to the Comments tab to see all of the comments. Here, you can choose to delete a comment if you wish to.
What happens when a comment is reported?
A participant can report a comment if they feel that the content is inappropriate. The comment will be immediately hidden from all other participants and will enter a "reported" state. An email will be sent to your main site email address whenever a comment is reported, prompting you to review it.
Your admin area will also show a notification if there are reported comments waiting to be reviewed.
Dealing with reported comments
The News Posts section of the admin area lists any reported comments that are awaiting your review.
Clicking on Reported at the top will show you any reported comments. Comments highlighted in red and labelled "pending" are awaiting review.
Clicking on View Report beside a comment will show more details about the report.
You can choose to delete the comment, or to restore the comment.
