Fitbit is transitioning to Google Health

Find out about the migration from Fitbit to Google Health

The Google Health app has just launched worldwide, replacing the Fitbit app.

In May 2026, Google announced that the Fitbit app was becoming the Google Health app. You can read more about the update here: https://blog.google/products-and-platforms/products/google-health/google-health-app/. For information on what's changed see: https://support.google.com/googlehealth/answer/17068213

If you previously connected your Big Team Challenge account to Fitbit, your steps tracked inside the new Google Health app should continue syncing in the short term.

If you haven't connected your Big Team Challenge account before and have the Google Health app, you should currently connect using the Fitbit option and choose the correct Google account on the Fitbit sign-in page.

If your steps stop syncing after your Fitbit app becomes the Google Health app, please check that your Fitbit device is still connected. You may need to disconnect and reconnect the device if it does not show under "Connections" (top left icon on the Google Health app).

From September 2026, Google is turning off the old Fitbit servers and have introduced a new way for all third-party apps, such as Big Team Challenge, to sync data. Unfortunately this means that all Big Team Challenge users who wish to continue syncing from Google Health will need to re-connect to Google Health.

We will update this article with more information on the steps to re-connect using Google Health once they are available for your account. Note: your steps should continue syncing in the short term using your existing Fitbit connection.
